Inter Milan midfielder Stefano Sensi is still on course to join Championship league leaders Leicester City at this stage, according to yesterday evening's update on X from Fabrizio Romano.

He is one of a few players that have been linked with a move to the King Power Stadium this month - but Enzo Maresca's side may not be too busy between now and the end of the transfer window for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, they sufficiently strengthened in the summer and that is showing with many of their performances and results, with the Foxes on course to secure the second-tier title at the end of this term.

As well as this, it's believed that they are limited by budget constraints, even though they cashed in on key players in the summer including Harvey Barnes, Timothy Castagne and James Maddison.

However, Maresca did spend a fair amount on players during the previous transfer window with Conor Coady, Stephy Mavididi and Harry Winks unlikely to have been cheap additions.

But Cesare Casadei has been recalled from his loan spell by Chelsea, which could mean two things.

Firstly, they could have the funds to secure a signing with Casadei off the wage bill and secondly, Maresca may be keen to bring in a midfielder to replace the Italy youth international.

Sensi is now closing in on a move to Leicester, according to Romano.

It's , with one more round of negotiations potentially required before this agreement is pushed through.

The Foxes are set to fork out a fee in the region of €2m to recruit him, which isn't a huge amount considering the experience that Sensi has, previously representing Italy at a senior international level.

With five days left of the window, Leicester should be able to get this deal over the line without any issues.

Stefano Sensi could be an excellent addition for Leicester City

Leicester will probably win promotion with or without Sensi.

They have a very strong squad and with the existing midfield options they have, they should be able to get themselves over the line and secure a Premier League return at the first time of asking.

Ipswich Town, Leeds United and Southampton may also be keen to secure a top-two spot, but Leicester are in a strong place at the moment and they should have enough in their squad to retain their place at the top of the division.

However, with the experience Sensi has, he could be a valuable addition and could be a suitable signing for the top flight.
