Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has named Chelsea’s priority new signing to get done for the Club World Cup and its not Mike Maignan.
Today is the day where the first summer transfer window closes after only being open from the start of June. But it’s not closed for long as it reopens again on June the 16th. This is just a chance for clubs to get deals done before the Club World Cup starts.
Chelsea have been busy trying to get deals done and doing various other bits of business in the last 10 days. One new signing, Mamadou Sarr, who was announced yesterday, has predictions over his head to become world class very soon.
They’ve also signed Liam Delap already of course, and Alan Shearer was full of praise for The Blues new young striker yesterday. The striker is heading to the CWC with Chelsea and will be hoping for plenty of action out there.
Mike Maignan celebrates a save.
Chelsea are still talking with AC Milan to try and sign Mike Maignan from them, but they are messing around on this and it’s unclear whether it gets done or not today. There’s a chance to get it done in the second transfer window as well, but if they want him for the CWC, then they are going to have to increase the £18m bid that apparently went in last night as that’s been rejected.
Romano reports that Jamie Gittens of Dortmund is Chelsea’s priority for the Club World Cup. But he also mentions that Alejandro Garnacho remains a player appreciated by Chelsea.
There’s no actual update on the Gittens deal, but he’s been speaking on that for a while and says he expects it to happen.
