Fabrizio Romano gives update on ‘priority’ contract situation at Man Utd

The bulk of Manchester United’s transfer business has been done earlier than many would have predicted ahead of this summer. Tom Heaton was the first addition to Solskjaer’s squad but the former Aston Villa goalkeeper was swiftly followed by United’s top target, Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United’s official unveiling of Sancho was slightly delayed but given the nature of the pursuit, perhaps it was only right for the deal to drag on just a little bit longer.

Only four days after Sancho’s first interview with the club was published, United announced that it has reached an agreement with Real Madrid over the transfer of Raphael Varane.

Now, the focus seems to be turning toward securing a new contract for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s talismanic midfield figure. Journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano gave an update on the situation, insisting that Manchester United see extending Bruno Fernandes’ contract as a ‘priority’.

“Manchester United are working on it, they want Bruno (Fernandes) to stay. He will 100% stay but he has to extend his contract. (Manchester United) are talking with his agents since one month and now it’s time to reach an agreement,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“After signing Sancho and Varane, it’s important to have all your top players happy with their salary. That’s why Bruno Fernandes is a priority.”
