Coming on the back of another league defeat in the Premier League, West Ham are now fourteenth in the league table, and their next three matches include an away game against Newcastle United and a home fixture against Arsenal. Compared to those teams, the Hammers don't have good momentum, and further, they currently have two unavailable star players, Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez, alongside striker Niclas Fullkrug.
The recent performance against Nottingham Forest was underwhelming, and West Ham mostly had to defend a lot of huge chances throughout the game. In terms of the attack, Julen Lopetegui's side seemed lackluster and couldn't create any good goalscoring opportunities in order to make a comeback in this match and take an important draw against the in-form Nottingham Forest side.
Further, some of Lopetegui's lineup decisions didn't work out well, such as playing Wan-Bissaka as a right midfielder again and substituting Cryscencio Summerville with Michail Antonio in the beginning of the second half. Therefore, if West Ham couldn't secure a huge home win against bottom-table team Everton next week, the Hammers could highly likely decide to sack Lopetegui after managing West Ham in just eleven Premier League matches.
If that happens to be the case, one of the managers who is the heavy favorite to replace Lopetegui is former West Ham assistant manager Edin Terzic. Now, transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has also provided a major update on West Ham's pursuit of a new manager, suggesting that the Hammers are lining up Terzic as their new long-term head coach.
This is a great move by the West Ham board, as Terzic is a proven manager in the Bundesliga and has also achieved success in European football by guiding Borussia Dortmund to reach the Champions League final. Moreover, Terzic implemented his high-pressing tactics successfully in the Dortmund midfield, which could help West Ham to improve their build up play in the middle of the park as well.

Overall, Terzic is a better manager than Lopetegui in terms of the tactical setup and substitute decisions and, therefore, could thrive at West Ham with the current Hammers squad. Now, it remains to be seen whether West Ham immediately decide to bring Terzic during the international break or still continue to back current manager Julen Lopetegui in the upcoming matches.
