Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed the destination for Liverpool startlet Stefan Bajectic as he prepares to go on loan.
Bajcetic, burst onto the scene under Jurgen Klopp in the 2022/23 campaign, looked to be a mainstay in Liverpool's midfield for years to come, but he has had an injury-stricken last twelve months making him surplus to requirements.
The Spaniard has been left out of both Arne Slot's matchday squads and was one of eight to be deemed unavailable for the U21s side 2-1 defeat against Leicester.
According to Romano, Red Bull Salzburg are in the lead to sign the midfielder on a season-long loan.
Negotiations are believed to be at the final stages with details to be clarified but already underway, as Pep Lijnders wants the midfielder.
Spanish clubs such as Real Sociedad were also interested in the 19-year-old but it is thought Salzburg are close to agreeing a deal.
The Austrian side have already brought in Lijnders as their new head coach this summer, with Vitor Matos and Andreas Kornmayer also heading to Salzburg as part of the Dutchman’s staff.
One of their first additions to the squad was Bobby Clark, who has swapped Anfield for the Red Bull Arena in a deal worth up to £10 million.
That means Lijnders is likely to field both Clark and Bajcetic on a weekly basis, with the latter to be used regularly in a side on the cusp of qualifying for this season’s Champions League.
