Fabrizio Romano Confirms Liverpool Exit Set to Accelerate

Liverpool’s transfer activity has been one of the defining stories of the summer window. While much attention has been placed on the club’s record-breaking recruitment drive, fresh developments from Fabrizio Romano now point towards another departure, with Kostas Tsimikas increasingly expected to move on before the deadline.

Liverpool Balancing Investment with Sales

The Reds have spent over £250 million on strengthening Arne Slot’s squad, with Florian Wirtz arriving in a landmark deal alongside Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong. Yet the club has also demonstrated sharp business on the sales front, generating in the region of £182 million from departures.

Luis Díaz joined Bayern Munich for £65.5 million, Darwin Núñez made a £46 million switch to Al-Hilal, Jarell Quansah departed for Bayer Leverkusen in a £35 million agreement and Tyler Morton completed a £15 million move to Lyon. Caoimhín Kelleher’s £12.5 million transfer to Brentford further added to the income, underlining a well-balanced window.

That strategy looks set to continue with Tsimikas now the subject of growing speculation. Romano has reported on X that developments around the Greece international are expected to pick up pace.

“Kostas Tsimikas exit, expected to accelerate as Liverpool could also open to potential initial loan proposals.”

“The left back is prepared to leave as Kerkez and Andy Robertson will be the LBs for Arne Slot.”

Kostas Tsimikas Facing Uncertain Future

Since his arrival from Olympiacos in 2020, Tsimikas has been a reliable squad option but has struggled to dislodge Andy Robertson from the starting role. Even when Robertson was unavailable, the 29-year-old has often remained on the fringes, with only eight starts from 17 Premier League appearances last season.

The signing of Milos Kerkez this summer has pushed Tsimikas further down the pecking order. Slot has made clear that Robertson and Kerkez will be his preferred options at left-back, leaving Tsimikas with a choice between another season of limited minutes or seeking a new challenge.

Interest Building Ahead of Deadline

Several clubs have monitored Tsimikas in recent weeks. Leeds United and Nottingham Forest have shown interest, and with the window closing on 1 September, movement around the defender is now expected to gather speed.

Liverpool, while open to an initial loan, are also mindful of maximising value. Given their track record of commanding sizeable fees for fringe players this summer, a permanent exit would be no surprise if a suitable offer arrives.

For Tsimikas, the next two weeks could be decisive. A player admired for his professionalism and technical ability, he has served as dependable cover during his Anfield spell. But with competition fiercer than ever under Slot, Romano’s latest update suggests his Liverpool career is nearing its conclusion.
