On Tuesday, Aston Villa punched their ticket to the UEFA Champions League after Tottenham Hotspur fell to Manchester City. As a result, the team needs to bolster its team to compete domestically and in Europe.

A name that the Premier League side are targeting is Paris Saint-Germain attacker Carlos Soler. L’Equipe recently mentioned that Soler has caught the attention of an English club.

Moreover, talks with Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have been ongoing for several months, and things seem to be moving forward. Transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano wrote in his column for CaughtOffside that the rumors are true and that Soler’s tenure with PSG should be over this summer.

“I expect Carlos Soler to leave this summer, it’s over for him at Paris Saint-Germain,” Romano said. “Aston Villa are interested – the reports on this are true, but there also clubs in Spain so the situation is really open there. He could be one to watch this summer, for sure.”

The 27-year-old has made 26 appearances this season across all competitions for the Spanish club, scoring one goal and registering four assists for the Parisians. He likely needs a change of scenery, and playing for Emery, who coached against him in La Liga, might be a good fit.
