Paparazzi Fabrizio Corona is under investigation from authorities for defamation in the ongoing illegal betting case in the Serie A.

Corona has been key in revealing names of the players that have been potentially involved in betting illegally. Nicolo Fagioli has already been handed a suspension of about seven months, with a suspension of a higher amount likely to handed to Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali.

But a host of players mentioned by Corona haven’t been subjected to any investigation, raising doubts about the validity of his accusations. Stephan El Shaarawy and Nicolo Casale had confirmed that they are suing Corona.

La Gazzetta dello Sport state that Corona is being investigated for aggravated defamation by the Milan Prosecutor’s Office on the basis of complaints filed by El Shaarawy and Casale. The files of the defamation case are being coordinated by the deputy Letizia Mannella and the prosecutor Marcello Viola.

Not just El Shaarawy and Casale, but the likes of Federico Gatti and Nicola Zalewski have also not been investigated, potentially showing that some names pointed at by Corona may not be valid.
