Cesc Fabregas is set to continue as head coach of Serie A side Como according to Tuesday’s reports, despite strong links with a move to Bayer Leverkusen to replace Xabi Alonso, who will become the successor to Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid at the end of the 2024-25 season.
According to reports from Sky Sport Italia and Gianluca Di Marzio, Como have been in contact with Fabregas over the last week and have found an agreement to continue their relationship for the time being.
There had reportedly been attempts from Bayer Leverkusen, who will play in next season’s Champions League, to convince Fabregas to leave and take over at the BayArena.

Instead, Fabregas is set to continue with Como. Additionally, he could be in for an increase in wages and could be handed even more responsibilities at the ambitious Serie A side.
Sky Sport Italia claim that a contract extension is not currently on the cards given that Fabregas’s current deal runs until the summer of 2028, but there could be an adjustment in salary and the coach could be given more power in transfer and ‘corporate’ decisions.
This has been described as the role of a ‘manager’ rather than ‘head coach’.
