Cesc Fabregas fully admits he was ‘not happy’ with his Como team’s performance in a 1-1 draw with Empoli. ‘Someone here thinks they are playing for Bayern Munich.’

This was a relegation dogfight, as although the Lariani have had some very impressive results this season, they are still only seven points clear of the relegation zone.

The opener from Anastasios Douvikas was cancelled out by a Christian Kouame towering header, though the Tuscans wasted several more scoring opportunities to cause a real upset here.

“I am not happy, and I can say I did not like the performance from my team,” said Fabregas in the press conference.

“Perhaps it was my fault, but I think the only positive thing today was the point. The rest was no good. I tell the players they need to get their feet back on the ground, someone here thinks they are playing for Bayern Munich.”

Fabregas had to watch from the stands due to a touchline ban, so was not even in a position to shout at his players to fire them up.

“Empoli could easily have won today. We prepared the game in a certain way, but I really did not like some things about the attitude. We need to press high and make more of it when we recover the ball. If we have a different attitude, we raise the level of the performance.

“The only player from today I liked was Assane Diao, despite the fact he only returned from international duty on Thursday. He was the only one who tried to do something. I believe we can do much better.”

There was at least some good news with the return to the starting XI of both Sergi Roberto and Alberto Moreno, while Nico Paz and Dele Alli were suspended.

“We lacked determination today. A team that doesn’t score after doing all that work, I have to be honest, we need to do better,” added Fabregas.
