Cesc Fabregas is in demand and is being courted by important teams, but he will give his priority to Como while deciding on his future. He spoke to Corriere dello Sport.
“I’m young, but I think I know how things work. When José Mourinho joked to us, saying that he didn’t care about the bad moments since he had 30 years ahead of him as a coach, he was letting us know that it is a very draining job. He stopped for six months at one point, while Pep Guardiola for a year. The role has changed. It’s necessary to recharge your batteries from time to time. The boss means everything to a team nowadays. He’s the CEO even though he technically isn’t. He shows face after losses and wins and when explanations are needed.”
Fabregas might not have that much power if he moved to Milan or Roma.
“I don’t know about that. It’s too early to tell. I can only speak about my experience at Como, where we work as a group. The president, director Carlalberto Ludi, and myself, plus Osian Robers, who’s the head of the youth academy and whom I trust blindly. I’m aware I’m very lucky here because they give me a lot of freedom.”
Fabregas was quizzed directly about his future.
“Nothing is decided yet. I’ll need a small break after the end of the season to take a breather and sit down with Como. It’s good here because the handling of the day-to-day operations doesn’t change whether we win or lose. We talk constantly. I have to understand where we want to go and how, but yes, Como is my priority.”
