In a press conference this morning, Corinthians manager Fabio Carille discussed the rumours linking him to Saudi club Al-Hilal.

Two weeks after it was reported that Carille met with Al-Hilal, he revealed that no official proposal has been made.

“I do not have anything to say, because nothing has come,” Carille said when asked about the Saudi ‘offer’.

“A lot of the press does not seem to know me yet: I do not have any problem coming here and talking about whether (a proposal) happened.

“Last year, I was even criticised when I spoke the truth here about a proposal from Atletico Mineiro.

“Whether Al Hilal’s proposal will come or not, I do not know. I already hear that there are numbers, contracts … There is not.”

ESPN reporter Jorge Nicola had reported that Carille had received an offer from Al-Hilal and the Corinthians boss took the time to single him out for spreading false rumours.

“I want to send a message to Mr. Jorge Nicola, to be very direct. I have not received an offer from anyone as of today.

“I’ve sat down with my staff six or seven times this year to discuss whether I could be leaving or not, and every time I’ve been offered a meeting, I’ve sat down with my staff and the Corinthians board is always the first to know.”

According to UOL, a team would have to pay Corinthians a R$6m (€1.37m) termination fee in order to acquire Carille’s services.
