Despite his club’s 2-1 win over Bahia on Saturday, Corinthians coach Fábio Carille defended his comments after a midweek defeat to Independiente Del Valle in the Copa Sul Americana where he said his club needed to be stronger in decisive matches like Wednesday’s.
“I’m very honest in what I say,” said Carille after the 2-1 win over Bahia. “Our team needs to be rougher for some games.”
After the 2-1 win over Bahia, Pedrinho admitted the comments by the head coach did not sit well with him.
“I think we got a little upset by what he said since we did not know if he was talking about all of us,” said Pedrinho. “But the way it was said made us a little upset, but we are professionals and move forward.”
Reporters asked the head coach his thoughts on how there were reports some players were offended by the remarks: “If some players did not like it as you say, do you think the guys would run today as they did? I have a group that is smart, they know what I’m talking about. I have my opinion, they have theirs, I respect their opinion, they respect mine, and we go to the field to work.”
