After more than a month, Corinthians returned to Brasileirão action and, unlike their friendly matches during Copa America, left the field with the victory.
Despite the slim 1-0 win over newly-promoted CSA, Corinthians created a good amount of chances and were not under much threat.
After the match, manager Fabio Carille analysed the victory.
“The win was good, we played well and we created chances. Junior Sornoza spent more time in attack and Junior Urso linked up with Pedrinho and Fagner in the first half.
“This has been my gameplan. Today we took an important step.
“We now have a whole week to work and prepare for Flamengo, Copa Sudamericana, Fortaleza, and then the second game in Uruguay.
“We did not score as much as we wanted to, but we did. We were having a hard time, but we created more chances than usual.”
Avoiding unnecessary fouls has been something Carille has also preached. During Sunday’s victory, Corinthians only committed two fouls, which tied a club-record low.
