Raheem Sterling had a productive 2017/18 campaign for Manchester City but Fabian Delph thinks the forward can make an impact on a bigger stage.
The 28-year-old told Agence France Presse he hopes to use own his experience to help his younger team-mate perform for England in the coming weeks.
Delph, who plays with Sterling for club and country, credits the 23-year-old’s work rate as the main reason why he’ll take Russia by storm.
“In terms of being dedicated, he’s one of the most dedicated footballers I’ve come across. His work ethic is fantastic, his desire to improve is there.”
Rather than resting on his 23 goals in all competitions this past season, the former Aston Villa midfielder thinks Sterling will push on to produce the same with England. “I think this World Cup is a massive stage for him to go and showcase what he can do.”
“I think you’ve seen a guy who has stood up and made himself available in the big games.”
