FA have confirmed that Manchester United will have to undergo wardrobe change for FA Cup final | OneFootball

It has been a disastrous season for Manchester United but the players have the chance to end on a high when they step onto the hallowed Wembley turf for the FA Cup final on Saturday.

The Red Devils will take on Manchester City in a repeat of last season’s summit clash and fans and manager Erik ten Hag will be hoping for a different outcome this time around.

One thing that is guaranteed to be different is the 20-time English league champions’ attire against Pep Guardiola’s side. The Old Trafford side usually sport their famed red shirt coupled with white shorts and white socks.

However, as reported by Samuel Luckhurst, Ten Hag’s team will take to the field with black shorts and black socks. Andre Onana will be clad in yellow as per usual.

Attire change for United

“FA confirms #mufc are wearing red shirt, black shorts and black socks tomorrow, as they did for last year’s final, with goalkeeper in yellow kit,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

This decision was confirmed by the FA in a bid to avoid any sort of kit clash as City also wear white shorts. They will do the same on Saturday.

A similar scene was seen in the Manchester Derby in last season’s final as well. The Citizens had emerged as 2-1 winners, after a terrible error from then-goalkeeper David de Gea.

The Dutch boss will be praying that his team pull off the unthinkable at the capital, especially with news swirling of an impending sack.

EtH’s future in jeopardy

His team have performed disastrously, mainly due to his decision of playing a high-transition style which has not suited the players at his disposal.

Injuries have occurred quite frequently and despite a large number of absentees, the Dutchman has never relented and his stubbornness caused the three-time European winners to finish eighth in the league, their lowest-ever finish.

There have been reports of the club looking at potential alternatives with Mauricio Pochettino and Kieran Mckenna’s names doing the rounds a lot recently.

The club have vehemently denied these reports and are reportedly set to meet after the FA Cup final in a bid to thrash out the managerial situation.
