Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech reveals dressing room mood after FA Cup triumph over Manchester City

Speaking after his side’s game on Saturday (h/t Express), Chelsea attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech revealed that the dressing room was brimming with joy after a massive FA Cup win against Manchester City.

Thomas Tuchel’s men came up against a formidable City side on Thursday in the semi-final. But they emerged victorious and ended Pep Guardiola’s dream of winning the quadruple this year.

Just one goal was enough to win the match as the German manager’s team continued their impressive defensive record. And that winning moment came in the 55th minute.

Mason Mount slid in a through ball to Timo Werner, who then squared it off to Hakim Ziyech. The Moroccan wide-man had an easy job to tap the ball into an unguarded net and make the scoreline 1-0.

A chance at silverware

And the 28-year-old Ziyech described later how the winning goal happened. This was the former Ajax midfielder’s 5th goal of the season in all competitions.

“Timo did a good run into the space, I made my run, it was a good delivery and I put it in easy. You always have to have that feeling before the game that you want to score.”

He added that the dressing room was very happy after Chelsea secured back-to-back FA Cup final appearances. They would hope to go one step further than they did last year when Arsenal lifted the trophy for the 14th time at the Blues’ expense.

“It feels good to be in the final. Everybody is happy. We did a good job, especially in the first half… It was a perfect week and we can enjoy that.|
