Leeds United are through to the fifth round of the 2022/23 FA Cup.

After years of suffering in the competition, Jesse Marsch’s side took another step closer to a magical day out at Wembley Stadium.

Leeds travelled to League One’s Accrington Stanley for one of Saturday’s early kick-offs and won by a scoreline of 3-1.

Jack Harrison put the Premier League side 1-0 up on 23 minutes, although they certainly weren’t dominant in the opening 45 minutes of play.

Stanley had numerous chances themselves, but in the second half, Leeds flexed their footballing muscles.

Two quickfire goals from Junior Firpo – which was outrageously assisted by Patrick Bamford – and Luis Sinisterra effectively booked Leeds’ place in the fifth round.

And believe us when we say Bamford’s assist was something very, very special.

Bamford morphing into prime Ronaldinho, the storyline we didn’t see coming this FA Cup weekend.

Stanley did pull one back in the 81st minute through teenager Leslie Adekoya, but the damage had already been done and the goal merely a consolation.

All in all, it was a pretty good day for Leeds, one which numbs the pain of their recent Premier League struggles a tad.

The away fans at the Wham Stadium were certainly in jubilant spirits, although a certain supporter got a little bit carried away. Actually, they got VERY carried away.

What did the person in question do? Oh nothing much, just ran onto field of play and proceeded to do ‘The Worm’, before being escorted away by security.

The footage really is peak ‘Magic of the Cup’…

To be fair to the fan, who you imagine will now be receiving a lengthy ban, they absolutely nailed the difficult dance move.

But maybe save it for the actual dance floor in the future, rather than midway through a football match at a League One stadium.

Although we have to admit, it was pretty funny…

Marsch hoping for a home match in FA Cup fifth round

After Leeds sealed passage to the fifth round for only the second time in 20 long years, their boss stated that he is desperate for the next match to be at Elland Road.

He said: “Yeah, that’s what I think would be really great, to play at Elland Road in such an important match and get our fans involved and get everybody excited in the city.

“We’re happy that the team is coming together. We’re happy that we’ve been able to push in this tournament and obviously home draw would be great.”
