The draw for the third round of this season’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup has been made this afternoon with some thrilling ties having been produced.

A number of second round ties are outstanding following the postponement of several matches over the weekend but those affected clubs will at least now know their potential rewards if they are to reach the third round.

This season’s third round sees 40 clubs contest 20 knockout ties with the 28 surviving teams from Tier Three downwards being joined by 12 elite clubs from the FA Women’s Championship.

The pick of the third round draw sees third tier side Burnley host FA Women’s Championship leaders Liverpool. In-form Crystal Palace must travel to Somerset to face a Bridgwater United side who have done very well in this season’s FA Women’s National League Southern Premier while Blackburn Rovers have an away tie at FA Women’s National League North Division One leaders Liverpool Feds. The other notable third round ties see Tier Five side Ashford Town (Middlesex) host FA Women’s Championship promotion hopefuls London City Lionesses while Sheffield United must travel to Stourbridge, another side from the fifth tier.

In the third round’s only all-FA Women’s Championship ties, Bristol City host Lewes and Coventry United travel to Watford. Durham, Sunderland and Charlton Athletic face a short wait to learn of their respective third round opponents.
