Spanish football’s two biggest clubs will no doubt have had their attentions piqued by ongoings in Ligue 1 on Sunday evening.

This comes after Kylian Mbappé took his place front and centre in the headlines in his home country once more.

Paris Saint-Germain were back in action late last night, making the trip to The Stade de la Mosson for a meeting with Montpellier.

The capital giants headed into proceedings eyeing a bounce-back performance, fresh off a trio of successive draws.

And, when all was said and done in the south of France, they managed precisely that, with star man Mbappé at the heart of things once more.

En route to an eventual 6-2 triumph, the 25-year-old racked up a brilliant hat-trick, as well as the assist for Vitinha’s opener.

As much, of course, comes fresh off PSG being drawn against Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, with Mbappé’s endeavours in taking his tally for the campaign to a whopping 38 goals having no doubt put those behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital on red alert.

On the other hand, smiling from ear to ear on Sunday evening were likely those in a position of power on the other half of the Clásico divide.

With each passing week, Mbappé’s imminent arrival at Real Madrid inches closer, with all associated with Los Blancos salivating at the prospect of the France international linking up with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Jr. in Spain’s capital.

Not only that, but, post-match on Sunday, PSG boss Luis Enrique dropped yet another public hint regarding the incoming exit of his side’s talisman.

Speaking to the media, as cited by Diario AS, Spanish tactician Enrique explained:

“Mbappé has been exceptional. We have to take advantage of it while we can, and when we can no longer take advantage of it we will have to raise our level.”
