Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Leeds United on Sunday afternoon was overshadowed by the fact that Harvey Elliott had to be stretchered off after a nasty-looking injury to his ankle.

Indeed, it was clear from the very beginning of the injury that the youngster had done something serious, with medical staff from both Liverpool and Leeds’ benches rushing to the scene to tend to him.

James Pearce has revealed, too, what processes were undertaken to get Elliott to a stable condition as quickly as possible:

Elliott was naturally distressed to start with but the care and quick thinking of those medical staff on the scene really did help him get to at least some area of calm, with him applauding fans as he left the pitch.

That was great to see and now hopefully he makes a swift recovery.
