‘Expectation is he will renew’ – Concern for Real Madrid in Alphonso Davies pursuit | OneFootball

A major update on the future of Real Madrid target Alphonso Davies has come to the fore late this evening.

It is of course common knowledge across the world of football that defender Davies has been identified as the prime target of those in a position of power at Real Madrid with a view to the summer.

Amid the collective agreement that fresh blood is needed at left-back, the Canadian has been earmarked as the perfect addition, for present and future alike.

Davies himself, meanwhile, has too seemingly hinted at his interest in a new adventure, by way of rejecting a number of contract renewal offers on the part of Bayern Munich.

The assumption, to this point, was therefore that Real would ultimately get their man.

Safe to say, then, that all associated with Los Blancos will no doubt be left concerned by the latest news regarding Davies’ future circulating in the press.

After being asked for an update on the situation during a Q&A for The Athletic on Thursday, transfer expert David Ornstein pointed towards Davies likely staying put.

In fact, amid claims that Bayern’s latest contract proposal trumps that on offer in Madrid, Ornstein went as far as to suggest that the ‘expectation’ is that the 23-year-old will soon pen fresh terms in Bavaria:

‘The Real Madrid interest is well documented, but the last I heard the Bayern Munich contract proposal was superior. So unless that has changed or does subsequently, the expectation is that he will renew.’
