Alfie Gilchrist could leave Chelsea as early as next week with several Championship clubs interested according to Ben Jacobs.

Gilchrist is a product of Chelsea’s Cobham academy, and he made his first debut under Mauricio Pochettino in the 2023/2024 season.

The 21-year-old made 17 appearances in all competitions, and put in some impressive performances, whilst he scored his first goal in a 6-0 win against Everton that season.

Alfie Gilchrist could leave Chelsea next week

Despite impressing, Gilchrist was sent on loan to Championship side Sheffield United in order to get regular first team football.

The Blades missed out on promotion to the Premier League, but Gilchrist made 32 appearances in all competitions.

Gilchrist is one of a number of players who Chelsea are looking to move on this summer, and there’s no shortage of suitors for the defender.

Chelsea are said to want around £5m for Gilchrist, and Jacobs has now provided an update on his future.

He took to X.com and said:

“Movement on an Alfie Gilchrist exit possible next week with multiple Championship clubs keen.”

Gilchrist has reportedly been approached by clubs in Saudi Arabia, and it will be interesting to see which team he ends up joining.

Player sales have started to pick up now and striker Armando Broja is the sixth player to leave the club on a permanent basis this summer.
