Davide Frattesi isn’t happy with how things are going for him at Inter given his secondary role, and Roma have never stopped pursuing him. On the other hand, even if the Nerazzurri decided to make him available, a move to the Eternal City would be complicated for financial reasons, Corriere dello Sport informs.
The midfielder is open to leaving in January already, but the Nerazzurri brass would rather not touch their squad. Even though he’s a not full-time starter, they’d have to find a high-level replacement.
Inter might eventually greenlight the departure of Frattesi, but they spent €32M to acquire him, and would ask at least €40M now, and it might be hard for Roma to match his valuation. It’d be easier for a Premier League side, instead.
The Giallorossi could raise funds through sales and perhaps tender Lorenzo Pellegrini, but their chase would still be complex. The Azzurri staple is a product of their youth system. He was sold to Sassuolo in 2017 as part of a swap.
The capital club shouldn’t be underestimated when it comes to splurging after what they did last summer. Perhaps not on the nail but through fancy formulas or partial swaps, but they could go all-out to bring him back if they really want to. Moreover, he’d have to dig his heels in to join them. It’s not a lock to happen, as the suitors would flock if he was for sale. Still, the root of the problem is whether it makes sense for the Nerazzurri to even entertain the notion, as his main competitors aren’t spring chickens.
