Barnsley, Plymouth Argyle, and Salford City are all keen on Tranmere Rovers midfielder Josh Hawkes, sources have exclusively informed Football League World.
The 23-year-old joined the League Two club permanently from Sunderland last January after impressing on loan in the first half of the season and went on to score six goals and provide three assists for them in 2021/22.
This season, he has scored five times in 27 appearances for a Tranmere side that sit 15th in a congested fourth tier but are only five points back from the play-off places.
Hawkes’ performances have turned heads and sources have exclusively informed FLW that one of the other League Two top seven hopefuls, Salford, are keen on the wide man.
FLW understands that he also has suitors in the division above in the form of promotion-chasing Barnsley and League One leaders Plymouth.
Hawkes has entered the final 18 months of his current deal at Prenton Park, which runs until 2024.
A left-sided player by trade, the 23-year-old is also comfortable on the right flank and has been utilised in attacking midfield as well.
