The Saints reportedly may look to sign the winger in case their own young talent departs.

Southampton are interested in replacing Tyler Dibling with West Bromwich Albion winger Tom Fellows in case the young Saint leaves for a Premier League club.

Everton were in for the young midfielder but had their latest offer of around £40 million rejected by the Championship club. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are now in the race for the 19-year-old, according to TEAMtalk, as Everton look set to move on from Dibling.

Should the Southampton academy product leave St Mary's this summer, Fellows, another talent from a second-tier talent that has emerged from his club's youth system, is a player that Will Still's side would be interested in signing, as per Football Insider.

Like with Dibling, David Moyes' Toffees have also been linked with the West Brom star, so Southampton may have to battle them for him if their own prospect departs.

Southampton, Tom Fellows transfer link-up would be a good one

While they aren't exactly like-for-like players, with Fellows being much more of a natural wide player than Dibling, the Albion player would be someone for Saints supporters to be excited about. Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie exclusively told Football League World that a move to the south coast for the 22-year-old could unlock his potential even more.

"Yeah, I really like Tom Fellows as well," Hendrie said. "I think there's no surprise that Southampton are trying to get hold of him.

"I think the problem with West Bromwich Albion is that they haven't been able to invest to get probably the best potential out of him. But really, every time I've seen him, you know, he's got energy, his work ethic, a really good manner.

"You do feel that going into a side like Southampton, it might just accelerate what he's got that's just waiting to come out, because what I've seen I've been impressed, and no surprise [about the interest]."

Southampton have to keep Tom Fellows in their sights throughout the summer window

The playing staff that new boss Still has at his disposal doesn't include too many wingers, and all of the people who could occupy one of the wide attacking spots in the team much prefer to play on the left, leaving a gap in the squad for a quality right-winger like Fellows to fill.

Cameron Archer, a natural number nine, was frequently used by the young Anglo-Belgian boss at right-wing throughout pre-season.

The England under-21's crossing and general delivery make him such a threat, especially if you've got natural finishers waiting in the box to get on the end of his deliveries.
