Paul Robinson expects Jose Mourinho and Gareth Southgate’s Harry Kane feud “to rumble on” but surprisingly claimed Tottenham will not be as reliant on their main man.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former White Hart Lane number one insisted that while Kane’s game time with England will be “under scrutiny” he is confident that there is no reason to worry.

Kaveh Solhekol reports that the striker has been nursing muscle fatigue during the international break after a busy opening to the 2020/21 campaign.

Kane featured as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 victory over Belgium on Sunday and could feature against Denmark tomorrow night.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the current situation, Robinson said: “This thing between Mourinho and Southgate is going to rumble on.

“Now that Vinicius has come in from Benfica, I do not think Jose will be as heavily reliant on Harry Kane. Not like he has been.

“Kane’s game time with England is obviously going to be under scrutiny because of what has been said between the two managers.

“Unless he was 100 per cent fit I do not think he would have been risked at all. I do not think there is a worry there.”

Speaking after the Belgium win, Southgate suggested that Kane is set to start in the Nations League on Wednesday.

He said: “He’ll have gained more confidence from the spell he had (against Belgium), and so we hope he’ll be good to start.”
