AS Roma have held positive talks with the camp of Tyrique George, and talks are underway over a permanent move according to Fabrizio Romano.

George is one of a number of players Chelsea are looking to move on before the transfer window closes on Monday.

The 19-year-old has fallen down the pecking order following an influx of attacking signings this summer, and his chances of regular minutes at Chelsea this season are virtually none.

Roma in talks with Chelsea over Tyrique George move

George is a product of Chelsea’s famed Cobham academy, and he was promoted to the first team squad last season.

The teenager scored his first Premier League goal against Fulham, and made 26 appearances in all competitions last season.

However, George made it clear earlier this summer he wanted to leave in order to play regular football, and there’s a number of clubs interested.

RB Leipzig have shown interest in George, whilst Roma have also made an enquiry, and Romano has now provided an update.

He took to X.com and said:

“AS Roma had positive talks with Tyrique George’s camp in London today.

“George can join AS Roma on permanent deal with heavy sell-on clause, talks are underway.

“Exclusive story, confirmed.”

Chelsea reportedly preferred a loan move for George, but it looks like the winger is going to embark on a new chapter in Serie A.

Chelsea in for a busy end to the window

Chelsea have got a lot of work to do before the end of the window, and George isn’t the only player they are looking to move on.

The Blues are still trying to find solutions for Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi, but most importantly they need to sell Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson.
