Paul Robinson tips Oliver Skipp to join a “bottom half Premier League side” on loan this summer amid Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s imminent arrival at Tottenham.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed that, like Troy Parrott, the 19-year-old needs a season of regular football.

The arrival of the Denmark international provides further competition in the middle of the park for Skipp, who penned a new four-year contract last month.

He made 11 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side last term and has been tipped by his manager to be a future captain of the club.

When asked by Football Insider if a loan move was the best course of action for the teenager this year, Robinson said: “Skipp needs to play.

“He is of an age now, like Troy Parrott, where he has travelled enough with the squad, he has been on the bench enough.

“The next stage of his development is a decent loan move but it has to be to the right club. It cannot just be a loan for the sake of it. He needs to go on loan to a bottom half Premier League side where he will play week in, week out.

“It would be a valuable experience. Skipp and Parrott are clearly a big part of the future at Spurs but now is the time for them to go out on loan.”

Football Insider exclusively revealed last month that Parrott had agreed to join Millwall on a season-long loan.

The striker made four appearances for the first team, three of which where from the bench with his one start coming against Colchester in the EFL Cup.
