Michael Brown has claim Everton will be dismayed at losing Lucas Digne against Newcastle United on Sunday as well as the already suspended Richarlison.

The former Premier League midfielder, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor, has suggested the Toffees should still cope without the missing men.

As confirmed by Everton on Wednesday, the 27-year-old will miss just one game after his suspension for a red card against Southampton was downgraded.

The left-back was given his marching orders after appearing to step on Kyle Walker-Peters’ ankle in the Toffees’ 2-0 defeat.

Digne will join Richarlison on the sidelines after the Brazilian forward picked up a three-game ban for his red card against Liverpool.

However, Brown believes that Everton will be able to cope without their star duo when they visit St James’ Park this weekend.

Brown told Football Insider: “Lucas Digne, the 72nd minute, so you can’t say that affected everything but they’ll be disappointed with it.

“I still think it’s not too bad, with where they’re at, I think everyone would take the position Everton in. Yes, there’s some uncertainty and you miss players but that happens, that’s normal.

“You would have expected Everton to have gone and done better against Southampton – a Southampton side that have leaked goals and are inconsistent.

“It’s a game where they can certainly go and set the tone, you wouldn’t be surprised if they go and do well at Newcastle.”

Digne had played every single minute of Everton’s Premier League campaign before his red against the Saints.

The Toffees currently sit top of the table on goal difference after four wins, a draw and a defeat.
