The Valiants were promoted back to League One this past season at the first time of asking, with Darren Moore masterminding the success in Staffordshire - and they've had a hot start to the summer transfer window.

Jordan Gabriel, Liam Gordon, Jordan Shipley and Rico Richards have all arrived on permanent free transfers from Blackpool, Walsall, Shrewsbury Town and West Brom respectively, and signing number five is on the way.

Port Vale set to sign Slovakian goalkeeper Marko Marosi

FLW has been told that Marko Marosi is set to be signing number five at Vale Park this summer following the expiration of his contract with Cambridge United.

Marosi joined the U's in mid-January, adding depth to the goalkeeping position at the Abbey Stadium following his departure from Plymouth Argyle.

The 31-year-old managed just two appearances for United though after he was withdrawn after just 40 minutes of a 3-2 win against Mansfield Town, suffering a hamstring injury which ended up cutting short his season.

He is poised to add depth to Moore's goalkeeping options for the upcoming 2025-26 season though when he puts pen-to-paper on his Vale contract, and will battle with Ben Amos for the starting jersey in Burslem.

Slovakian stopper Marosi came through the non-league ranks instead of through an academy, starting off with Barnoldswick Town in 2012 before joining Wigan Athletic.

He failed to make an appearance for the Latics though, and instead kick-started his EFL career with Doncaster Rovers, racking up 95 appearances for the Yorkshire outfit before moving on to Coventry City in 2019.
