The news today that Villareal are in the mix for Renato Veiga and have already agreed personal terms with the defender is excellent for Chelsea, who are keen to free up funds by moving him on for a major profit.

There’s yet more good news to follow however. Our sources have told us that Inter Milan are keen on Veiga, having been impressed by his spell on loan with Juventus earlier this year.
Inter are said to have a “clear advantage” in the chase for Veiga as they’re happy to buy him on a permanent basis, while several other teams have tried to push for a loan with a purchase option.
Juventus and Borussia Dortmund have also been linked at times this summer, although neither has yet made their interest into anything concrete.
As with Villareal, Chelsea’s asking price of around £34m is the issue. It’s described as a “clear sticking point” in talks with Inter.
That’s a lot of money for a defender who basically has 6 months of experience in a top 5 league, after going on loan to Serie A in January following a first half of the season at Stamford Bridge where he featured mainly in the cup competitions.
Veiga is happy with a move to the Spanish side, and so would presumably be even happier with a move to Inter. But with the window coming to a close, he will probably just have to take what he can get.
Perhaps Inter will now be spurred into action to make a bid of their own? Either way, this increased interest can only be good for Chelsea as they look to get the highest fee possible for the Portugal international.
