MK Dons have made an approach for out of contract Stockport star Will Collar, FLW understands.
MK Dons have tabled an offer for Stockport County midfielder Will Collar, Football League World has exclusively been informed.
Paul Warne is leading the Dons into his first summer transfer window in charge at Stadium MK, and will be hoping to conclude some shrewd business in order to get the club finally moving back in the right direction next season.
MK have been unable to arrest their downward spiral over the last few years, having gone from finishing third in League One in the 2021/22 season, to recording a 19th-placed finish in League Two last term.
Warne has already made a handful of signings in the early stages of the summer window, with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Gethin Jones and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy all having already put pen to paper on their respective deals with the club.
Football League World has exclusively been informed that MK Dons have tabled an offer to Stockport County midfielder Will Collar.
The 28-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of this month, after County confirmed via their club website that he'd be leaving Edgeley Park upon the expiration of his contract.
Having joined the club on a free transfer from Scottish side Hamilton Academical in February 2021, the versatile attacking midfielder has gone on to make over 170 appearances for the Hatters.
He's also been a part of two promotion-winning Stockport sides; first from the National League to League Two in the 2021/22 season, before helping the club to the League Two title in 2023/24.
Over the course of his four-and-a-half years as a Stockport County player, Collar has proven himself to be a quality attacking midfield player across numerous levels of English football.
A key contributor for the club at National League, League Two and League One level respectively, Collar has shown himself to be highly versatile, and reliable source of goal contributions for the Hatters.
Entering this summer fresh off the back of making 40 regular season appearances in League One, scoring eight times and providing two assists in the process, he didn't look out of place at third tier level whatsoever.
Therefore, if MK Dons are able to convince him to drop back down to the fourth tier - a division in which he's scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists in 60 appearances in - would surely present as a fantastic piece of business for the club.
At 28, he's still very much in the prime of his career, and he could fit perfectly into Warne's versatile and flexible tactical approach.
