Danny Mills has tipped Rodrigo to start for Leeds United in their game against Wolves on Monday night.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former Leeds United and England full-back said Marcelo Bielsa will favour the Whites’ record signing over Tyler Roberts for the game.
The Spaniard replaced Roberts after 56 minutes in Leeds’ 1-1 draw with Manchester City before the international break and scored the Whites’ equalising goal.
Roberts and Rodrigo have shared the number 10 role in the absence of Pablo Hernandez but the 35-year-old is now fit again.
He suffered an injury in the warm-up before Leeds’ game against Fulham but Marcelo Bielsa confirmed in his pre-match press conference that he is now available to play.
Welsh international Roberts and Rodrigo both featured for the national sides in the international break but have returned fully fit.
Asked by Football Insider whether he expects Rodrigo to get the nod against Wolves, Mills said: “I would say so, he’s clearly a class player.
“He’s got a lot of ability.
“He’s been away so as long as he comes back fit and is looking sharp and OK I would expect him to go into the starting line-up.”
Rodrigo became Leeds’ record signing in September when he signed for an initial £27million fee from Spanish side Valencia.
He has featured in all five of the Yorkshire giants’ games this season but his goal against City was his first of the season.
Roberts has also played a part in all of Leeds’ games this campaign but has not contributed a goal or an assist yet.
