Middlesbrough have sounded out Carlos Corberan and Rob Edwards as they search for a replacement for Chris Wilder while they also admire Coventry City boss Mark Robins, Football League World can exclusively reveal.

The Championship club announced this morning that Wilder had been relieved of his duties with immediate effect on the back of a poor start to the 2022/23 campaign – with the Teessiders currently in the relegation zone with just 10 points from 11 games.

Sources have exclusively informed FLW that Wilder’s exit is no surprise given how he felt about Boro owner Steve Gibson.

FLW understands that Edwards, who was sacked by Watford late last month, and Corberan, the former Huddersfield Town boss that is available after a short spell at Olympiacos came to an end recently, have both been sounded out as potential candidates to fill the vacancy.

The Teessiders are also keen on Robins despite the poor start to the season made by Coventry, who are bottom of the Championship despite beating Boro on Saturday.

The North East club are back in action on Wednesday evening as they take on Birmingham City at the Riverside.

Leo Percovich will lead the first team, with assistance from Craig Liddle, Mark Tinkler and Lee Cattermole, until a permanent replacement is found.
