Following AFP’s report earlier on Tuesday that Lionel Messi’s (35) summer move from Paris Saint-Germain to the Saudi Arabian top flight is “a done deal,” L’Équipe have since revealed that whilst there is a verbal agreement in place between the player and a Saudi club, nothing is yet signed. Messi’s entourage have now rejected the existence of a verbal agreement to Get French Football News.

Yesterday, Messi returned to PSG training following the lifting of his two-week suspension, which was issued following an unsanctioned visit to Saudi Arabia. However, despite a reconciliation between the club and the player, Messi is still expected to leave Les Parisiens this summer.

AFP revealed on Tuesday morning that Messi had concluded a “huge” deal to move to Saudi Arabia upon the expiry of the player’s contract at the end of the season. L’Équipe, however, have said that whilst there is a verbal agreement in place, nothing has been signed. The French publication added that Messi still wants to return to Barcelona, and is hoping that they will find the financial means to pull off a deal. RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins has revealed that Messi would be willing to make significant financial concessions in order to rejoin the Catalan club.

Contacted by Get French Football News, Messi’s entourage has now denied the existence of any agreement, verbal or otherwise, to join the Saudi Arabian top-flight.
