A source at the King Power Stadium has told Football Insider that the Foxes have now set their sights on Bremer, 23, after being frustrated in their attempts to sign Fofana and Tarkowski.

The Torino defender has three years remaining on his contract in Italy and is open to a move to the Premier League.

Last season the Brazilian scored five goals in 35 appearances to ensure that Torino avoided relegation at the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

Fofana revealed in an interview with French media that he had agreed personal terms with the Premier League club but St Etienne have refused to budge on their £25m-valuation of the 19-year-old.

Football Insider can reveal that the Foxes have also submitted a top bid of just over £30million for England international Tarkowski but like St Etienne, Burnley are holding out for a higher fee.

While the club have not given up hope of signing Tarkowski they are pursuing alternative targets with Bremer on their shortlist.

Both of Brendan Rodgers recruits this summer have come from Serie A – Timothy Castagne signing on a five-year deal from Atalanta and Cengiz Under arriving on a loan-to-buy agreement from AS Roma.
