Could Chris Wilder be heading to the King Power Stadium?
Leicester City have held talks with Chris Wilder over their vacant manager’s job, sources have exclusively told Football League World.
The Foxes are on the hunt for a successor to Ruud van Nistelrooy, who left his post last week after less than one year in charge.
The Dutchman oversaw City’s relegation back to the Championship at the first time of asking, but owing to financial reasons, his departure was only confirmed over a month after the final Premier League match of the 2024-25 season.
Leicester are seemingly making movements when it comes to trying to find Van Nistelrooy’s replacement though, and FLW has been told that one individual that has held talks with the hierarchy at the King Power Stadium is Chris Wilder.
It has been two-and-a-half weeks since Wilder lost his job at Sheffield United for the second time, with relatively new owners COH Sports choosing to go in a different direction with Ruben Selles following a Championship play-off final defeat to Sunderland in May.
Wilder’s Blades side amassed 90 points in the regular season, but they could not overcome the final hurdle, and it ended with the 57-year-old on the chopping block.
Nevertheless, the 57-year-old appears to be a contender for the vacancy in the dugout at the East Midlands outfit, which will surely need to be filled soon in order for Leicester to get their plans in place ahead of the start of the new Championship season next month.
