Former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie has told Football FanCast in an exclusive interview that Todd Cantwell would be a good fit for his old side.

The Norwich City attacker is currently being linked with a move to Villa Park, with the MailOnline reporting that he could be sold for £30m this summer.

In Hendrie’s eyes, the Englishman could be a shrewd acquisition for Villa. He told FFC:

“He’s very nimble, he’s very slight, he’s very good on his feet and got great ability. He’s an attacking threat. I always look at players who play in certain styles and formations, and Norwich’s formation really suits Todd Cantwell; it really does.

“It’s finding a blend and formation that fits and he could easily fit into that Villa side; he really could. I just feel the way they play and Dean’s style and philosophy, I feel that he’d be one of those up–and–coming players you’d certainly want to take into the football club.”

Villa have also been linked with a move for Cantwell’s team-mate Emiliano Buendia, so it will be interesting to see if they end up going for both players or just the one.

Whatever the case, it seems strengthening Villa’s attack is the priority for Dean Smith this summer.
