Inter are ‘very close’ to completing a deal for Porto striker Mehdi Taremi ahead of the summer transfer window, Matteo Moretto reports.
The 31-year-old Iranian striker’s contract expires with the Portuguese club at the end of this season and won’t be renewed. With the January transfer window now over, the player is able to sign a pre-contract with his next club.
Milan tried to sign Taremi from Porto last summer but failed to agree a deal for the striker, allowing Inter to quietly work on negotiations over the course of this season. The two parties have now agreed to the terms of a contract and his arrival is looking increasingly certain.
Transfer market expert Matteo Moretto told Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing that Inter have ‘taken all the necessary steps’ to agree a deal with Taremi and are now ‘very close’ to finalising the transfer, working on ‘a few small details’.
The 31-year-old striker is currently away on international duty, taking part in the Asian Cup with Iran. He scored three goals in their first four games but wasn’t involved in the quarter-final win over Japan after picking up a red card in the Round of 16 win over Syria.
