However, the forward has faith that the Canaries can secure a top six finish and has the belief that the team has what it takes to come out on top if they do make the play-offs.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World via Sky Bet, the Norwich striker gave his verdict on the club’s promotion chances.

The 22-year old remains realistic about their chances and claimed that David Wagner’s squad intend to take it one game at time with so many matches still to be played.

“It’s hard to say if Norwich can achieve promotion this season,” said Sargent.

“There’s a lot of teams in the same position right now, fighting for that spot, but we’ve said it all along that we’ve just got to focus one game at a time.

“If we can do that, and take care of business, it will set us up in a good position to get promoted.”

Norwich City were formed in 1902?

Real Fake

Norwich fell to 10th in the Championship table with a 3-0 loss to league leaders Burnley last week.

But Wagner has overseen a generally positive start to life at Carrow Road since replacing Dean Smith in January.

The team won their first two games under their new manager, putting four past Preston North End and Coventry City.

The gap to the play-offs is now just two points, with 17 games still to play this season.

The Verdict

Sargent has been a key figure for Norwich this season, and leads the way alongside Teemu Pukki as the club’s top scorer in the league with 10 goals.

He has started each of the three games Wagner has overseen in the Championship, bagging his first goal under the German to put Norwich 3-0 up in their 4-2 win against the Sky Blues.

Norwich will be relying on Sargent to maintain his good goal scoring form in the remainder of the season in order to compete against the likes of West Brom, Middlesbrough and Luton Town.

Competition will be fierce for those play-off places but Wagner’s first few games in charge have shown that Norwich do have what it takes to earn a top six finish.
