Huddersfield, Swansea, Walsall and Crawley are all battling to sign Flint Town defender Isaac Lee, FLW understands.
Huddersfield Town, Swansea City, Walsall and Crawley Town are all battling to sign Flint Town United defender Isaac Lee, Football League World has exclusively been informed.
It's a four-horse transfer race that spans across the three divisions of the EFL.
Swansea City are hoping to finally return to genuine Premier League promotion under Alan Sheehan next season, whilst Huddersfield Town are also backing first-time boss Lee Grant in the transfer market in order to ensure they make their return to the second tier next term.
Meanwhile in League Two, Crawley Town are hoping to make an instant return to League One following their relegation last season, whilst Walsall are hoping to banish their play-off final demons and win their return to the third tier for the first time since 2019.
Football League World has exclusively been informed that Huddersfield Town, Swansea City, Walsall and Crawley Town are battling to sign Flint Town United defender Isaac Lee.
Flint Town United, who ply their trade in the JD Cymru Premier League - the top-flight of Welsh football - confirmed in mid-July that they'd received formal offers from EFL clubs for his signature, and that the 21-year-old had been granted permission to explore those opportunities.
Football League World exclusively revealed close to that time that Cardiff City, Crawley and Walsall had all activated his release clause, but as of yet, his chosen destination remains unknown.
The 6'5" central defender only signed permanently for Flint Town United in January after arriving on an initial loan deal, and made over 30 appearances for the club last season, picking up their Young Player of the Year and Fans' Player of the Year awards.
Flint manager, Lee Fowler, has this week confirmed the level of interest in his star defender, and confirmed that the club had accepted offers for him.
"We have had lots of teams ringing up. It’s that fear of missing out with some teams," he said.
"We have had a couple of concrete offers, which we have accepted. It’s gone on a bit longer than what we thought. We need a resolution."
That resolution may be imminent too, as Football League World has also exclusively been informed that his decision over where he will take his talent is expected in the next week.
