The Canaries have successfully nurtured a lot of young players in the last few years, playing a role in their league title wins in 2018/19 and 2020/21.

Josh Sargent represents that sort of transfer policy, having arrived from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2021.

The 22-year-old explained how Marquinhos has settled in since making the move from North London in speaking to Football League World via Sky Bet.

He said: “Marquinhos is promising in training.

“He is still brand new, so he is a little bit shy, but he’s slowly starting to come out and be more of himself.

“You can see that on the pitch as well, so hopefully he can be a good addition to the team.”

The 19-year-old is still fully establishing himself at senior level, after looking like an accomplished prospect in Brazilian Serie A for Sao Paulo.

Most of his minutes for Arsenal this season have come in Premier League 2, but he did get off the mark for the Gunners in the Europa League.

Real Fake

It is no surprise to hear that Marquinhos is gradually settling in at Carrow Road, it will have been an enormous change of environment in making the move to London at such a young age, and David Wagner should be able to create an atmosphere that aids his development while on loan.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes for Marquinhos to become a regular starter, with Tzolis’ return and the faith the club have showed in Adam Idah suggesting that there is fierce competition for places.

Marquinhos has played mainly off the right flank so far in his career, but has also been deployed on the left or centrally.
