Former Everton attacker Gerard Deulofeu revealed how fondly he recalls his time at Goodison Park – even if he was often playing the foil in an exciting partnership.

Now at Udinese, the Spaniard remembers his link with Romelu Lukaku very well, in addition to paying tribute to former manager Roberto MartĂnez for helping him flourish.

“I have very good memories of Everton. I had two good seasons there,” he told OneFootball in an exclusive interview.

“I had a very strong partnership with Lukaku, I was his assist man!

“I also have a very good relationship with Roberto Martínez and I’m thankful for the trust he put in me when I was young.”

But despite those happy memories of his time with the Toffees, it is actually a memorable goal with Watford which sparked a stunning FA Cup semi-final comeback which is his favourite of the 21 he scored in English football.

“That FA Cup goal is my favourite. That was impressive. It was the most beautiful and most important,” the 27-year-old added.

“It helped us reach the FA Cup final which is such a prestigious cup in England and was so big for the fans.

“The one against Arsenal in the Premier League [for Everton] was very good and is a nice memory but the one in the semi-final, I think it’s my best.”
