Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has responded to stories involving Chelsea and a possible interest in signing RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dani Olmo this summer.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest column for the Daily Briefing, Romano explained that he’s not aware of anything concrete going on with Chelsea and Olmo, though he did confirm that the talented Spain international could be one to watch this summer as he will have a €60million release clause.

This will be the first time such a clause has been active for Olmo during his time at Leipzig, so it’s perhaps not too surprising we’re seeing links with Chelsea, and there will surely be other names mentioned before too long.

It’s not been a happy season at Stamford Bridge, so one imagines the Blues will be active this summer in trying to strengthen their squad.

Dani Olmo to Chelsea?

Olmo could be a useful signing for Chelsea, so it will be interesting to see if he emerges as one of their preferred targets in attack, which looks an area of weakness in Mauricio Pochettino’s current squad.

For now, however, it seems too early to know for sure if CFC will be seriously pursuing the 25-year-old.

Discussing the latest on Olmo’s future, Romano said: “Despite some media reports about Chelsea being interested in Dani Olmo, I’m not aware of anything concrete happening there for now.

“Still, he will have a release clause this summer worth €60m, which will become active for the first time. At the moment it’s quiet, but let’s see what happens as he’s a talented player.”

Olmo’s fellow Spain international Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao could be a more concrete name to watch for Chelsea in that position, as Romano has previously informed us.
