Kieran Sadlier is close to signing for Exeter City, FLW understands.
Ex-Wycombe Wanderers winger and current free agent Kieran Sadlier is close to signing a deal with Exeter City, Football League World has exclusively been informed.
The Grecians are hoping to finally record a League One top-half finish in 2025/26 for the first since their promotion to the third tier in 2022.
Gary Caldwell has been able to make a host of additions to his squad so far this summer, with the likes of Jayden Wareham, Luca Woodhouse, Joe Whitworth and Sil Swinkels all making moves to St James' Park.
They may well be about to make their latest signing too.
Football League World has exclusively been informed that Exeter City are close to signing free agent winger, Kieran Sadlier.
The 30-year-old left Wycombe Wanderers this summer upon the expiration of his contract with the Chairboys, having signed for them in the summer of 2023.
Sadlier began his career with West Ham United, having been with the Hammers as a youngster since 2005. However, after failing to make a competitive first-team appearance for the Irons, the Haywards Heath-born wideman took his talents to Scotland in 2015, signing with St Mirren.
Over the years, the former Republic of Ireland youth international has spent time in Ireland with Sligo Rovers and Cork City respectively, whilst on these shores, he's enjoyed stints with Doncaster Rovers, Rotherham United, Bolton Wanderers and Leyton Orient respectively, prior to signing for Wycombe.
24/25 will no doubt have been a frustrating season for Sadlier from a personal perspective.
The winger was sidelined for a large chunk of the campaign between October and April, having undergone an operation on a hernia.
However, when he's been fit, Sadlier has proven himself to be a smart player at League One level, having made over 140 career appearances in the division.
He was still able to contribute one goal and three assists in just 10 League One outings last term (excluding play-offs), highlighting just how much he still has to offer for a side in the third tier.
So, with Exeter City short of depth and proven options on the left flank - Sadlier's favoured position - his signing, on a free transfer no less, would surely be a very shrewd one indeed.
