Currently on loan from Chelsea, the 19-year-old has enough at this point to attract interest from elite top-tier clubs from across Europe, despite the fact he doesn't have a huge amount of senior experience under his belt.

Joining the Blues back in the summer, the England youth international spent much of the first half of the 2023/24 campaign on the bench under Mauricio Pochettino, an excellent achievement considering he failed to make a single first-team appearance for Norwich City before his switch to Stamford Bridge.

Despite his first-team involvement at the Premier League giants, he was limited to two senior appearances under Pochettino during the first half of the season, persuading the West London outfit to send him out on loan to Huddersfield for the rest of this term.

His impact in front of goal in West Yorkshire has been limited thus far and that's because he hasn't had much of a chance to thrive recently, scoring just once in 12 games and even being an unused substitute against Rotherham United at the weekend.

But the teenager has been able to pick up some valuable experience in the Championship and could play a key part in keeping the Terriers afloat in the second tier beyond the end of the campaign.

The Toffees have been linked with several second-tier players in the past, including Leeds United's Crysencio Summerville, with the club clearly having an eye on the division below them for fresh blood.

They are one of the teams that have taken an interest in 19-year-old Matos, along with Marco Silva's Cottagers.

FLW understands interest in the teenager isn't limited to English sides though, with Ligue 1 outfit Lille paying close attention to him.

The French club have helped former Manchester United starlet Angel Gomes to develop after he failed to assert himself as a vital member of the first-team squad at Old Trafford.

But they will face a considerable amount of competition to secure his signature, with Bundesliga title contenders Bayer Leverkusen and PSV Eindhoven from the Netherlands also keeping tabs on his situation as he enters the final weeks of his loan spell at the John Smith's Stadium.

Matos has been at Stamford Bridge less than a year and the Blues surely wouldn't have made the effort to bring him in if they didn't think he was going to be one for the future.

To let him leave so soon after bringing him in would be a risk, especially with the top-tier giants letting plenty of good players leave prematurely in the past.

Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku (first spell) and Mohamed Salah are three players they shouldn't have sanctioned exits for.

All three of those excellent players were at slightly more advanced stages of their careers than Matos currently is, but it's still a lesson for them.

Assessing him in pre-season and then potentially sending him out on another loan next season to see how he copes could be a better option than selling him, especially with the Blues not seeing the best of him yet.
