Chelsea’s moves towards attacking additions this summer have been very focused on Jamie Gittens of Borussia Dortmund so far.

The Blues agreed terms on a 7 year contract with the Dortmund playmaker, only to find the German club holding out for too much money. According to top transfer insider David Ornstein, however, there is still widespread expectation that the deal will be done sooner rather than later.

Chelsea also in the Kudus business

Chelsea are offering players in exchange for Mohammed Kudus.

Gittens isn’t the only attacking player the Blues have been linked to this summer. We’ve also heard a decent bit of chat about Mohammed Kudus of West Ham, and there is still some life in that rumour yet. Our sources have exclusively informed us that the price for the attacking midfielder is set at £65m-70m, with the Hammers willing to sell, but only at that price.

Chelsea still consider Gittens first choice, but have offered a number of players to West Ham as makeweights in a deal to try and snag the Ghana international for less cash up front. The 5 players named earlier in the summer were Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Robert Sanchez, Carney Chukwuemeka, Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevoh Chalobah.

So far, however,  it’s no dice. The East London side can’t see any of the players offered who would want to join them who they would also be interested in.

West Ham must agree player deal before Chelsea interest advances

We can well see Chelsea being interested in Kudus even if Gittens is signed. He can play across the front line and is unsettled at West Ham. But there’s no way we’re going to pay that much for him, so it will be a question of the Hammers and one of the players we’ve offered coming to terms on a deal before this goes anywhere.
