Former Congolese international Yves Diba-Ilunga believes that the African Nations Championship (CHAN) serves as an excellent showcase for African players.

He emphasized this point in an exclusive statement given to Foot Africa.

Obviously, CHAN is a competition that plays a vital role in the development of African football. It has always been a fantastic platform for local players. I’m thinking in particular of Moroccans Ayoub Kaâbi and Sofiane Rahimi, who made their names on the international stage thanks to CHAN, along with several other Congolese, Malian, Senegalese, and Nigerian players. Of course, CHAN can motivate African talents to push harder and encourage national federations to strengthen their leagues, provided that quality training is prioritized from a young age so that players are nearly ready to meet the demands of top-level football.
