Alex Bruce insists it is obvious that Leeds United have prioritised signing up and coming talents this summer.

The former Leeds defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes the influx of young talent at Elland Road will give the club good “foundations” to build on moving forward.

The Whites have confirmed the arrival of three new teenage signings in as many days, with 18-year-old Cody Drameh the latest recruit at Elland Road.

As well as the former Fulham man, Leeds have also secured the services of 16-year-old Charlie Allen from Linfield and 18-year-old Joe Gelhardt from Wigan.

Bruce admits he is excited to see how the young prospects get on and believes the Whites have done well to prepare themselves for the future.

Bruce told Football Insider: “He’s signed a couple of youngsters, Bielsa, now – they’ve got Gelhardt who’s a good prospect from Wigan. It’ll be interesting to see how these young lads do.

“It could bode well for the future, the recruitment, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realise what they’re looking for, they’re obviously looking to improve the foundations in terms of the future and what they can expect.

“It’ll be interesting to see how these lads do – they’ve gone to a great club.”

Of the trio of new recruits, Gelhardt is the player with the most senior experience under his belt after 21 appearances for Wigan.

While Drameh never featured for Fulham’s first-team, Allen did play four times for Linfield and is the club’s youngest ever debutant.
